Employee Spotlight: Meet Fenelein G.

Fenelein G., Manager of Platform Technologies, focuses his work on how his work builds efficiency, saves time, and reduces repetitive work.  Get to know what inspires him in this employee spotlight.

Where did you grow up, and how did that shape your perspective on health care?

I grew up in a small seaside city named “Kanyakumari,” located at the southernmost tip of India. It is a place known for its natural beauty, and for the significant contrast in how people access health care based on income and where they live. Seeing that difference early in life shaped my perspective and made me appreciate how essential accessible, affordable, and reliable health care is for a community.  That experience stayed with me as I moved through my Bachelor of Engineering degree in India and later to the United States for my master’s degree in computer science. It made me want to contribute to systems that make care easier for people who need it the most.

What does our mission mean to you personally?

Neighborhood’s mission resonates deeply with me because it reflects something I have witnessed since childhood — that good health care can change a family’s future. For me, the mission means ensuring dignity, fairness, and support for people who may not always have easy access to care. It motivates me to use my skills in technology and automation to create smoother processes that directly support our members, many from Rhode Island’s at-risk populations.

What inspires you outside of work that connects to what we do here?

Outside of work, I am inspired by activities that teach patience, discipline, and perspective —volleyball, photography, or traveling.

I also value helping others and lifting people up, even on a tough day. That mindset closely connects to what we do at Neighborhood by supporting others, reducing their burden, and making life a little easier through thoughtful and compassionate action.

I took these photos personally, and photography is important to me because it helps me slow down and appreciate details, light, balance, and perspective. I’m usually drawn to scenes that feel calm, meaningful, or visually striking in a natural way. Some of these photos reflect travel experiences that stayed with me, while others capture quiet moments that stood out to me in everyday life. Photography is one of the ways I express creativity outside of work, and it also reflects the patience and attention to detail I value in my professional life.

How does your work behind the scenes help transform health care delivery for Rhode Island’s at-risk populations?

My focus is on building solutions that save people time — for internal teams, our members and our providers. By using automation, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), ActiveBatch, and other workflows, I help reduce repetitive work, minimize errors, and speed up processes that directly affect access to care.

Every automated solution means:

  • Faster turnaround for member and provider requests
  • Greater accuracy in processing
  • More time for staff to focus on meaningful member interactions
  • A smoother overall experience for those relying on us

Time is precious, and when technology removes unnecessary delays, our members benefit immediately.

What motivates you to innovate in technology for better member outcomes?

I have always enjoyed problem-solving, and automation feels like the future — one I want to actively contribute to. The biggest motivator for me is seeing the real impact: when hours-long tasks turn into minutes, when a delay disappears, or when a provider’s process becomes seamless. Knowing that these improvements help members get care faster and reduce stress for families pushes me to keep exploring new technology, especially AI, and investigate ways to support our mission.
