Neighborhood is the Only Medicaid Health Plan in Rhode Island to Receive 4.5 out of 5 in NCQA’s Medicaid Health Plan Ratings 2026
September 16, 2026 (Smithfield, RI) – Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island (Neighborhood) has once again been recognized as one of the nation’s highest-rated Medicaid health plans, earning a 4.5 out of 5 in the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) 2026 Medicaid Health Plan Ratings.
Neighborhood has ranked among the top 10% of Medicaid health plans nationally for 23 consecutive years since NCQA began rating Medicaid plans, and remains the only Medicaid health plan in Rhode Island to achieve a 4.5 out of 5 rating.
“Earning NCQA national recognition for 23 consecutive years reflects our enduring commitment to improving the health and well-being of Rhode Islanders and supporting the providers who care for them every day,” said Neighborhood President and CEO Peter Marino. “This rating is a testament to the high-quality, affordable and accessible care we strive to deliver for our members, and to the strength of our provider partnerships, including our federally qualified health centers, which serve nearly half of our membership.”
NCQA’s Medicaid Health Plan Ratings evaluate health plans based on the care patients receive, their satisfaction with that care, and the plans’ efforts to drive continuous improvement. In NCQA’s 2026 ratings, Neighborhood is one of 13 Medicaid health plans nationwide, and the only one in Rhode Island, to receive an overall rating of 4.5 (nationally, four Medicaid health plans received a 5 out of 5 rating). Notably, Neighborhood maintained a 5 out of 5 rating in critical areas such as Pediatric and Maternity Care.
NCQA is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare quality.
